How does your desk (Affiliate Link) look right now? A small business desk (Affiliate Link) can get unruly very quickly, especially in busy times. If we don’t take the time to decide on what we want for a desk (Affiliate Link), we may end up with a folding table and a chair (Affiliate Link) in our small business office (like my parents had in their office businesses). I am here to permit you to get the desk (Affiliate Link) of your dreams. And, to help you out, I am sharing small business desk (Affiliate Link) inspirations to help you find your perfect office. Follow along and get inspired!
Desk (Affiliate Link) areas are unique to each person. Some people like a well-organized space with lots of bins and folders. Others like a streamline look with little out on the desk (Affiliate Link), but a computer and a planner. Some people don’t care either way. Our desks portray who we are and, therefore, we should think of this space as an extension of ourselves. Our desks show others and us that we care about ourselves and how we manage our workday.
To help determine if you like your desk, ask yourself these questions:
What do you think of your desk (Affiliate Link)?
Do you think of your desk (Affiliate Link) as a great place to work or just a place to get stuff done?
Do you want to go to your desk (Affiliate Link) in the morning or would you rather go to the nearby coffee shop?
I hope these questions gave you a starting point on what you want for your office. Now, let’s see some desk (Affiliate Link) inspiration.
6 Business Desk Inspirations and Tips
Here are six desk (Affiliate Link) inspirations and tips to keep your desk (Affiliate Link) organized from the beginning.
1. Use the vertical space in front and on the side of your desk (Affiliate Link). Vertical file folder bins mounted on the wall is a great way to keep your surface free and clear.
2. Keep your stapler (Affiliate Link), calculator (Affiliate Link), pens (Affiliate Link), pencils, tape, and other supplies off the desk (Affiliate Link). I know it may seem appealing to keep the items at arms reach but really it’s just taking up space. Unless you are using them 3 or 4 times a day, they don’t need to be on your desk (Affiliate Link). A side desk (Affiliate Link) surface or drawer works well for storing these items.
3. Have plenty of bins and file folders around your desk (Affiliate Link), but refrain from placing them on the desk (Affiliate Link). They do not need to be too close to you. This gives you a better space to move around.
4. Make your desk (Affiliate Link) a space that others can share. If you are like me and have an office in a shared room, add another desk (Affiliate Link) in the space to invite others to stay and work when you want them too, of course. =)
5. Hidden spaces can be turned into an inspiring desk (Affiliate Link) office. Turning a shallow small closet into an organized desk (Affiliate Link) area is fun, and simple. Just add some paint (wallpaper if you want). take down the doors and reframe the opening. There are plenty of wall-mounted desks that work great for this small space.
Below are some wall mounted desks I found on Amazon (affiliate).
6. A multipurpose streamline desk (Affiliate Link) combination stored in another room works great. This type of desk (Affiliate Link) also serves as a place to store other items. For example, it could be used in a guest bedroom to store your guest’s clothing.
I hope this helped you get some direction on what your dream small business desk (Affiliate Link) looks like for you. If you are looking for some additional desk (Affiliate Link) organizing tips, feel free to check these articles and posts below.

I think I need to find a new desk, since after reading thins I’ve realized I don’t really like working at mine every day! I really like your tip to keep things off your desk that aren’t being used more than three times a day. Use the drawers and shelves that you have to store all those items close but out of sight. Thanks for these ideas!

My office needs a little TLC and this post is inspiring me to show it a bit of love. Thanks for the nudge! =)

Glad it helped you, Deb. Thanks for commenting.

Early on I was taught that you should end your day with a clean desk surface. This gives you visually a fresh start the next day. I try to put things in labeled file folders and three ring binders. This really helps me stay organized. Loved your selection of desk options, especially the re-purposed closet idea.

You would have a heyday in my office! My desk is in the middle of the room, so I have no vertical space available, and it’s massive (6′ x 3′) so there’s tons of space on top for me to keep my tickler files, pens, paperclips, etc. But it works for me, and that’s what counts, right? 🙂
Sabrina says
That’s great, Janet. If everything has a place and you can work effectively, that’s what really matters.

Loved the pictures! I’m really a visual person, and love getting ideas like this. It’s also very inspiring to walk around an Ikea just for the ideas! I agree with Susan Mary Malone, above – the top 4 pics are awesome. One trick that someone told me was to make sure that 1/3 of the space holds NOTHING. The top four pictures hold true to that – even in the wall hangings!
Sabrina says
I love that idea of 1/3 space holding nothing. It makes space look bigger too. =) Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sabrina 🙂
Excellent ideas for the office and making more inspirational 🙂 Love all of the pictures….I am thinking that eventually I need to have an office too…..I work at the kitchen table lol (my place is small) but I get to at least look out the window 🙂
Great post!!
Sabrina says
Thanks Joan. I’m glad you enjoyed it. =)

Love how you gave so many visual options. I have a very large desk with side shelves sitting on edge of desk. I use a lot of baskets but also have piles. I’m forever trying different arrangements of my piles. Unfortunately, where desk & shelving etc is, my center is not usably centered. So I sometimes have to move things around. You inspire me to think & try moving things around again.

I am working on getting my work area together. Just set up a desk that can be sitting or standing so I am trying that out first to see how it goes before I move on to the rest. I love #1.f

Well Sabrina, you just managed to turn something necessary into something beautiful. Makes it suddenly not seem like “work” anymore. I love the photo ideas and moving storage upward inspires me. These are warm and inviting work spaces where the creativity can flow! And now I want to repaint my office and declare war on clutter!

Great ideas on office and desk declutter options. I am pretty good at it – but definitely have to keep an eye on myself. Thanks for some great ideas!

I always used to have a messy desk but recently I’ve cleared mine off. So much easier to do in this digital age! I love all of the photos of the desks that you included. It is so much nicer to work in an uncluttered area – downright pleasant. You always give such helpful hints!

I never thought I would say anything nice about minimalism. I love my material world. The furniture, beautiful desk accessories, the clothes, the shoes, the house, you name it. My STUFF. But now, I love the minimalism in my home office.

I use vertical files because my office is so small. They work great. My desk usually looks great, but sometimes the crap piles up…then I have to set aside 10-15 minutes to declutter. And I always feel better when I’m done!
Renee groskreutz says
Ok first, I love anything office related. Second, the first image with the vertical holders on the wall is such a great idea. This would solve some serious issues for me. Thank you for this.

OH I am an organizer and while I don’t have a lot of space, it is a little packed, but very organized and everything has it’s place. What I need is within reach, what I use less often is out of reach… and supplies and stuff are in my space. Love it. But great tips for others that aren’t as lucky as us! lol
Susan Mary Malone says
Sabrina–these are fabulous ideas! And just love the photos of the desk areas. Okay, so I actually covet the first 4. Can you come to my office and do this? LOL. I just love them!
