I am ordering IRS information returns for 2013 at this very moment from the IRS. Task completed.
To save me time and money, in September each year, I order the current year information return forms from the IRS. These information forms are used to give information to the government about your employees, subcontractors, and clients that you worked within 2013. I order double what I need, just in case I make mistakes when printing. It also helps me be less stressed in January when I need to use them.
I like to compare the employees total paychecks and subcontractors total invoices to the amount on the P&L report to make sure they match at this time as well. If there is an issue, I then address it to the person.

And, be sure to order the correction returns just in case, you file a form with the IRS that is not correct.
You can also file your W-2 information electronically with the Social Security Administrative Offices. Here is the link: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/. This site also allows you to check that Social Security numbers are legitimate before hiring personnel. Be sure to register in advance to speed up the process at the end of the year.

This is one of the tasks that really does save me time at the end of the year since I do my clients W-2 and 1099s. I hope you also find this useful.
