I found some great information from the U.S. Federal Government that can help you and your small business. This information will help you be more informed with small business practices in relationship to the IRS. I like these sites because they are videos and you could watch/listen to them in a short about of time. Here are the federal tax resources for small businesses links that will help you get the information and be able to move on to something else fairly quickly.
- IRS Videos : This site is not just for small business owners, It is also for individuals, tax professionals, governments, and non-profits. It is easy to use. Click at the top tabs (Affiliate Link) depending on what group you are looking for more information on, then select the area you need help with.
- Small biz Workshop: There is also a section in IRS Videos just for small business owners under the business tab and then select small biz workshops. This workshop walks you through an interactive what you need to know information about the federal government and your small business.
- There is also a self-employed section on the IRS website. This page gives you lots of information like how to decide if you are self- employed, how to make quarterly estimated taxes, home office deductions, etc…
Many small business owners are worried that they do not have all the information they need to run their small businesses, so instead of calling the IRS to as them question, try these links and see if you can get your answers this way first. If after half an hour, you do not find the information you need, they contact them by phone. Contact the IRS in the morning to save you on hold time. I like to call around 8:00 AM EST. It seems to work best.
